The KUHN HR 6042 R folding power harrow delivers the consistent seedbed quality fruit, vegetable, potato and specialty crop growers demand while improving productivity, transport stability and ease of operation. The HR 6042 R retains KUHN's proven heavy-duty rotor drive system, gearboxes and driveline while introducing a redesigned single-arm, single-pivot folding frame. The updated design reduces machine weight, improves balance and lifting characteristics, enhances transport stability and provides easier access to key components for faster maintenance. The open frame design also minimizes soil buildup, helping keep the machine cleaner in challenging field conditions.

Engineered for Demanding Operations

Built for High-Horsepower Tractors

A heavy-duty 1,000-rpm PTO driveline and oil-cooled central gearbox allow the HR 6042 R to handle tractors up to 460 PTO horsepower. An integrated oil pump continuously circulates lubricant to critical components while increased oil capacity helps manage heat during long working days. The result is reliable power transfer, extended component life and dependable performance in high-acreage operations.

Redesigned Frame

The main frame is a single-arm, single-pivot design which sheds weight and promotes easy access to the gearboxes while reducing soil buildup on top of the machine. The redesign keeps the center of gravity closer to the tractor for safer, more comfortable operation.

Advanced Rotor & Blade Design

The HR 6042 R features a heavy-duty gear-driven rotor system with large-diameter gears and maintenance-free bearings for dependable, long-lasting operation. Constant full-tooth engagement delivers efficient power transfer to the blades while maximizing durability in demanding field conditions.

Standard hard-coated DuraKUHN blades are engineered for extended wear life in abrasive soils. Measuring 13.2 in. (335 mm) long and 0.7 in. (18 mm) thick, these blades require less power while working up to 10 in. (25 cm) deep, creating an ideal seedbed across a wide range of crop applications.

Operator Friendly Adjustments

Electronic Monitoring

The HR 6042 R comes standard with the KTS20 control box. Six sensors continuously monitor gearbox temperature and rotation speed. The in-cab terminal notifies the operator if there is an excessively high gearbox temperature or if the cut-out clutches have been tripped.

Hydraulic Leveling and Depth Adjustments

Standard hydraulic depth control improves operator comfort by allowing adjustments from the tractor seat, while still adapting to changing field conditions and soil types. The standard leveling bar mounted behind the rotors helps to smooth out the soil so the roller at the rear of the machine can finish creating the optimal seedbed. Like the overall working depth, the leveling bar’s depth is adjusted hydraulically with a convenient depth scale.

The leveling bar offers three manually adjustable positions to match field conditions and desired soil finish. The trailing position is ideal for shallow working depths and higher operating speeds, while the middle position provides optimum leveling performance. For maximum clod breakdown, the forward position redirects soil back toward the rotors, creating a finer, more consistent seedbed.

Transport Position

These power harrows fold easily to a narrow 9’10”. This provides rapid transition from transport to field and back. The HR 6042 R offers practical, fast and easy folding to maneuver on roads and into fields with narrow gates.

Ideal Seedbed Preparation

DuraKUHN Blades and Blade Holders

Built for intensive use in the toughest field conditions, standard DuraKUHN blades are heat-treated for exceptional wear resistance and long service life. Their robust 18 mm thickness provides the strength needed for demanding tillage applications, while Fast-Fit® technology enables quick and easy blade replacement. A high-clearance design improves soil flow through the machine, reducing soil buildup and helping maintain efficient operation with lower power requirements.

Integrated Leveling Bar

The integrated leveling bar features a hydraulic adjustment separate from the working depth. This allows each half of the power harrow the ability to run in a floating position to best match the contours of irregular fields. Long side deflectors ensure excellent finishing between passes for an ideal seedbed.

Four Available Roller Options

With four different roller options to choose from, the HR 1040 R Series power harrows are suited to fit any commercial-sized operation’s needs.

For light and silty soils, the MaxiPacker has a large diameter of 21” and is less resistant to rolling and requires less tractor power.

For light and silty soils, the MegaPacker has a large diameter of 23” and creates a fine tilth in all soil conditions.

For dry, non-sticky soils, without an integrated seed drill, choose the MaxiCrumbler. The MaxiCrumbler has a diameter of 20” and is more durable in rocky conditions than other rollers.

The Steelliner roller provides improved clod-crushing on dry, hard ground and creates a good soil structure, even in difficult and wet seeding conditions.
