Gladiator® 1210M

The two row units produce an industry leading 10” wide strip with a raised berm which delivers ideal soil conditions for uniform emergence and ease of planting. The ST-PRO II creates a strip depth of 6-12” while utilizing the DROP ZONETM nutrient placement system, fertilizer can be placed 5-11” independent of shank operating depth. The VT-PRO creates a strip depth of 2-5” with a flat floor while placing liquid fertilizer on both sides of the strip 2–3" from the seed zone. This precise placement supports nutrient uptake and maximizes yield potential.

The ST-PRO II row unit is primarily used in the fall with heavier and tighter soils to band fertilizer 5-11” deep. The VT-PRO row unit is ideal for spring to run shallower in wetter conditions applying fertilizer 2-5” deep.

When determining which row unit best fits your operation, consider several key factors.

• Timing plays an important role, as shank style units are more suited for fall applications, while coulter-style units perform best in spring.
• Soil type and fertilizer holding capacity are also critical. Sandy soils with lower retention favor application closer to planting, while higher clay soils can store nutrients longer, making fall application more effective.
• Fertilizer type and placement matter as well, with deeper banding beyond 6 inches best achieved by a shank, while shallow strip-till is accomplished with a coulter. The ST-PRO II is typically used in the fall in heavier, tighter soils to band fertilizer 5–11 inches deep, while the VT-PRO excels in spring, operating shallower in wetter conditions and placing fertilizer 2–5 inches deep.

Gladiator 1210M and 1210 pull-type models are available with a trail hitch, typically used for towing an anhydrous cart. All hitches feature an extendable tongue allowing the operator to position the Gladiator close to the cart and then maneuver the trail hitch to make the connection. A strap and winch is also fitted to assist with lifting the tongue of the anhydrous cart. Trail hitches are also available on Montag steerable carts for maximum fertilizer flexibility.

Montag dry fertilizer systems are designed so that the fertilizer for each row is metered separately. Only in this fashion can consistency across the machine be ensured. An air release is used close to the row unit to disperse air and prevent fertilizer from being blown forcefully down into the strip and bouncing out. Diffusing the air also prevents back-pressure building up in the hoses which would lead to blockages and inaccurate application rates.

Any Gladiator which may be fitted with a 9-ton dry fertilizer hopper may be equipped with the Montag Gen 2 system. Two 4.5-ton tanks allow the operator to blend two different types of fertilizer together for placement in the strip. Although a different design compared to the Gen 1 single tank system, metering still takes place on a per row basis to ensure consistent application rate across the width of the machine. Rates of the two fertilizer products are controlled independently for total control. Also available as a Montag steerable cart on 1210M mounted models.

The Liqui-PRO™ liquid fertilizer system is a turnkey ISOBUS system complete with a 1,600-gallon tank and factory fitted onto any pull-type Gladiator. The variable rate controller is compatible with tractor ISOBUS displays providing precise row-to-row uniformity which ensures accurate application across the field.

The Montag Gen 2 twin-tank system and Liqui-PRO system are compatible with GPS variable rate and section control*. Use your mapping system to automatically vary the rate of the fertilizer across the field. With a Montag Gen 2 system, two dry fertilizer products can be controlled independently during field application. The Liqui-PRO system is capable of variable rate application of one liquid product.

Both Montag Gen 2 and Liqui-PRO minimize over application and wastage at point rows by dividing the machine into sections and letting the GPS switch off either 2-sections or 4-sections of the machine automatically.
